THE PROJECT

PROMOTION AND ENHANCEMENT OF THE CULTURAL HERITAGE OF BLERA, NORCHIA AND TUSCANIA

Maecenas, the powerful counselor of Octavian Augustus, protector of the arts and culture, descended from an ancient Etruscan family and never forgot his origins. Linked to Horatius by a deep friendship, he gave him a villa in Sabina, much loved by the poet, who composed there many of his works.

The relationship between Horatius and Maecenas was particularly strong: without Maecenas Horatius despaired of being able to continue living.

Together with Maecenas Horatius traveled a long way over the Via Appia to get to Brindisi and left us the description of the most important stages, encounters and places touched during this journey.

Well, today we want to travel with Horatius and Maecenas another way, an ancient Etruscan way, the Via Clodia, which went from Rome to Saturnia.

We will travel some stages of this route, stopping in Blera, Norchia and Tuscania; these Etruscan cities, once powerful, are still present today in the area with their spectacular prominences.

Purpose

To promote and facilitate knowledge of internal Etruria, the project uses several systems, also in synergy with each other:

- informative films illustrating the landscape and archaeological beauties

- the Eterna Tuscia App to be used both as a guide on the spot and as an album of places already seen, where to return or to recommend to others also thanks to geolocation.

- the ETERNAL ETRUSCAN portal

Results
